Guest Guidelines for a Safe, Comfortable, and Enjoyable Stay in Lumsden, Newfoundland & Labrador
At Wrecking Harbour Retreat, we are committed to providing a peaceful, premium coastal experience along the beautiful shores of Lumsden. The following policies are designed to protect the comfort of all guests, maintain the quality of our beach houses, and ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.

Reservations, Payments & Cancellations
At this time, 100% of guests’ payments are due at the time of booking their reservation online.
Booking & Deposit
A $250 damage deposit will be temporarily held on your card as a pre-authorization beginning 14 days before check-in and lasting up to 14 days after check-out. If no damage occurs, the hold is released. In the event of significant damage, additional charges may apply.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to check-in are eligible for a full refund.
- Cancellations made within 14 days of check-in are non-refundable.
- Reservation changes within 14 days of arrival are subject to a $50 administration fee.
Check-In & Check-Out
- Check-in: 3:00 PM
- Check-out: 11:00 AM
Due to cleaning and preparation schedules, early check-in and late check-out cannot be accommodated.
Beach House Allocation
Damage Deposit
A $250 damage deposit will be temporarily held on your card as a pre-authorization beginning 14 days before check-in and lasting up to 14 days after check-out. If no damage occurs, the hold is released. In the event of significant damage, additional charges may apply.
Occupancy & Visitors
Only the number of guests confirmed at booking are permitted to stay overnight. The maximum number of guest per house is 6. Day visitors are permitted up to a maximum of 4 additional guests, unless otherwise approved in advance.
Quiet Hours & Conduct
To preserve the tranquil nature of the retreat:
- Quiet hours are strictly enforced after 11:00 PM
- Outdoor speakers and amplified music are not permitted
A disturbance will result in one warning. Continued violations may result in a $100 charge per occurrence and/or removal from the property.
Smoking & Vaping Policy
Wrecking Harbour Retreat is a 100% smoke-free and vape-free property.
Smoking, vaping, cannabis use, and open flames are strictly prohibited inside all buildings.
Violations will result in a minimum $250 cleaning and fumigation fee.
Pet Policy
Pets are not permitted at the property. Failure to abide by this will result in a minimum $250 charge.
Cleaning & Housekeeping Expectations
General housekeeping is included; however, guests are expected to leave the property in a reasonable condition.
- Dishes must be washed and kitchen surfaces wiped down
- Failure to do so will result in a minimum $25 cleaning fee
- Heavily soiled kitchens or cooking equipment may result in a $50+ charge
Please refrain from frying fish or boiling shellfish indoors, as odours may require professional cleaning.
Parking
Each reservation includes parking for up to 2 vehicles in designated areas.
- Accessible parking is reserved for designated guests only
- Additional vehicles require prior approval
- Trailers cannot be accommodated without prior arrangement
Beach & Local Area Disclaimer
Wrecking Harbour Retreat overlooks Lumsden North Beach, which is a public beach.
As such, the retreat is not responsible for noise, activity, or events occurring in public spaces.

Safety & Property Use
For the safety of all guests:
- Do not leave cooking appliances unattended
- Lock all doors and windows when leaving the property
- Do not tamper with fire detection or safety equipment
Tampering with fire systems will result in immediate eviction and full liability for damages, and may involve legal action.
Environmental Responsibility
Located along the pristine coastline of Lumsden, Newfoundland & Labrador, we ask all guests to respect the natural surroundings:
- Dispose of waste properly
- Avoid disturbing dunes and wildlife habitats
- Follow all posted conservation guidelines
Damage & Liability
Guests are fully responsible for any damage caused during their stay, including by visitors.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- Property damage, missing items, or excessive cleaning
- Damage to furniture, fixtures, linens, or equipment
- Odour removal, stains, or misuse of facilities
Charges will reflect 100% of replacement or repair costs, including labour and shipping where applicable.
Severe Damage
- Excessive mess or property neglect may result in a $1,000 deep cleaning fee
- Additional administrative or third-party repair costs may apply
Post-Departure Charges
Wrecking Harbour Retreat reserves the right to charge your card for damages discovered after check-out.
Infestation Policy
Guests are responsible for any infestation introduced to the property.
All associated treatment costs and potential loss of revenue may be charged to the guest.
Beach & Outdoor Safety
Lumsden’s beaches are known for strong winds, shifting tides, and cold North Atlantic waters.
- Swimming is at your own risk (no lifeguards on duty)
- Stay clear of unstable sand or cliffs
- Wear appropriate footwear when exploring
